2022-2023
Autumn Term
Wow, what an amazing start we have had to this term! To kick off the year, we have been reading some amazing Dr Seuss stories, such as The Sneetches and The Zax.
In our writing lessons, we have been planning our very own Dr Seuss-style stories, focusing on rhyme an rhythm.
In PSHE, we looked closely at the moral of the story of The Sneetches. We then learnt all about self-esteem, what it means, how it can affect us daily and how to try and make sure our self-esteem is healthy. We learnt that self-esteem can be like a balloon: it can be inflated or deflated. We considered methods to inflate our balloons and keep ourselves happy.
What is self-esteem, and what can we do to boost it?

In maths, Mrs Abbott's group have been working hard on place value and the four operations. We have been mastering the chunking method of long division, and we have showed off our fabulous new skills by playing long division snakes and ladders!
In PE this term, we have been taking part in tag rugby sessions. We have also been lucky enough to have Paul, our fantastic coach, teach us Kasa Combat sessions. Check out some of our moves!

Spring Term
This term, we are studying a new overarching topic: What a Wonderful World!
In geography, we have been learning all about the Wonders of the World, reading maps, using atlases and our globe and comparing our hometown to a range of exotic countries.
In PE, we were lucky enough to be taught by the amazing dance coach, Hayley, who taught us an spooky Wednesday Adams dance routine. We worked so hard, and our final performance blew our teachers' socks off! We are now learning new gymnastics skills with our wonderful coach from the Beth Tweddle Gymnastics Centre.
In English, we have been refining our descriptive writing by creating a range of spooky horror stories. We are also now writing persuasive travel brochures, working on our range of sentence types and punctuation. Our appositives and hyperboles have wowed Mrs Abbott and Mrs Robinson!

Pizzas!
In design and technology this term, we have been planning and designing our own pizza restaurants. We have created lots of different and exciting themes, carried out market research and created (and very much enjoyed) our own pizzas - YUM!
Summer Term
Well, we're off to a fantastic start after returning from Easter. In our first week back alone, we have taken part in a sponsored bunny hop to raise money for our school, and we had a chance to practise for a sponsored penalty shoot out with the Mansfield Stags! See below for our sponsored bounce gallery.
