We support, foster and showcase the talent and ambition of all our children. We are committed to supporting the stars of tomorrow through celebrating their achievements and sharing them with the Heatherley community.
Here you will find a summary of the talents and skills that we support here at Heatherley.
We provide numerous opportunities for children to shine in football at Heatherley. We work in conjunction with the local football team - Mansfield Town (STAGS) to provide children with quality coaching session during school hours. Our younger children receive coaching session from 'Minikicks' where they learn early football skills. We host a KS 2 football club which is led by one of our Governors, Colin Burgess. Children from this club are selected to play in our school team to compete against other schools in the local school's league.
Some of our children have excelled in Football. Here are their Football stories.
'Ryan started his Football Academy journey at Chesterfield FC under 9's, and was signed by Lincoln City a few months into that season. He has been there since and is enjoying his football. Whilst at Lincoln he was invited, by the Football Association of Wales, to attend their Regional Camps due to his Welsh Heritage. He has made so many memories and is enjoying the experiences he gets to have. He has even met a few famous people on the way.'
'Jackson has attended Derby County Academy since the age of 6. he signed his first contract with the club as an under 9 player in July 2020, and was re-signed in July 2021 as an under 10 player.
He trains with the club 3 times a week and plays matches on Sundays all over the Country - from Chelsea to Newcastle. His favourite position is Midfield.
Jackson's coaches and team mates call him 'Jacko'.'
The Royal Ballet
Our Year 3 and 4 children have been extremely fortunate to have lessons taught by members of the Royal Ballet. Children showing natural flair, motivation, skill and dedication have been hand picked by the Royal Ballet Mistress to attend out of school ballet classes. We currently have a number children attending the out of school ballet classes.
Dukeries Horse Riding
We currently have a number of children attending horse riding sessions at the Dukeries Horse Riding School in Ollerton. The children take part in guided sessions where they learn how to ride and how to care for the horse. Our children develop a strong sense of nurture, care and a love of animals.
Our Foundation Stage and KS 1 children are extremely fortunate to be taught by Sensai Paul from Kasocombat Mansfield. Sessions take place as part of our PE curriculum during the school day. Each lesson is aimed at teaching karate skills in a fun, child friendly way. The children learn the art of self discipline and self defence. Our Year 1 and 2 children also have the chance to develop their skills further at our Kasocombat after school club.
The school based sessions have been such a success that many of our children are now members of the Kasocombat training club in Mansfield.
