Early Years Foundation Stage
Key Documents
Forest Fun!
In Foundation Stage, the children spend a day a week outside where they learn all about the great outdoors together. They have snack outside, a learning focus and play! On the day, please send them with clothes that you are happy to get dirty and some wellies. Thank you!
Learning
- We have scheduled learning sessions each morning and afternoon. They will often involve a topic-based activity that is intended to focus on one of the key early learning areas. They will often last between 10-20 minutes, depending on the focus.
- The majority of our learning in Foundation Stage 1 is done through play. We have various areas within the Nursery that are intended to encourage role-play, mark-making, mobility and water play. The observations we upload through Tapestry will describe important moments captured during play that show learning and development. We aim to upload at least one Tapestry observation per child each week.
Things to remember…
Please remember to write your children’s name in all items of clothing and shoes. This will help us greatly when getting the children changed and when they change their shoes to go in the sand area.
The Foundation Stage Curriculum
In the Foundation Stage, we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum and work towards our Early Learning Goals. We work hard in an environment that is carefully planned, exciting and stimulating. Our environment is designed to support the seven areas of learning and to help us explore the world around us to become independent learners. We use daily teaching times twice a day in F2 to bring learning on during focused adult led interactions.
