Year Three & Year Four

Welcome to the Year 3 and 4 class page.
Meet the team: Miss Wells, Mr Walker, Miss Dooley and Mr Harrison are our fantastic teachers. Mrs Beaver, Mrs Unwin and Miss Barton are our wonderful teaching assistants.
On this page, you will find useful information, updates and important events. You will also be able to see what we have been doing in class.
Weekly Information:
Drop off and Collection – Start time is 8.40am on the school playground. Collection time is 3.30pm from the school courtyard (children can walk to the gate or walk home if you have completed the ‘Going Home’ letter - ask at the office should you require a copy).
PE: PE kits need to be in school everyday and will be sent home on a Friday. Please ensure that children have the correct kit for indoor and outdoor sessions. We have some amazing things planned for PE this year.
Reading: We encourage children to read their books at home for at least 20 minutes each day. Research shows that this has a massive impact on children's learning across the entire curriculum. In Year 3/4, we aim for 5 reading sessions each week. The children can read to an adult, a sibling, themselves, their pet dog or even their imaginary friend. The children can log this in their reading record and ask parents/guardians to sign this. We will check reading records every Monday and award a dojo point for each day where they have read.
Spellings: Spellings will be sent home on ClassDojo every Tuesday and then the children will have a spelling quiz the following Tuesday. These spellings will also be taught in the classroom alongside practising and consolidating them at home.
Homework: Homework will be sent home on ClassDojo every Wednesday and will be due in the following Tuesday. This will cover a range of curriculum areas and will often be a consolidation activity of a topic taught in class. Children also have access to Mathletics and will be set tasks each Wednesday. It is recommended that children reach 1000 points each week.
